What really matters....

There is something which is far worst then stupidity...do you know what is it?

Foolishness.

While stupidity has to do with mental capacity, foolishness has to do with disobedience. In the garden of Eden, God asked Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Their disobedience came as a result of not trusting and obeying what God had told them earlier. It is interesting to note that in Eve's reply to Satan, she added to what initial said to her (Gen. 3:2). Her "adding" to what God said might have indicated her inability to see and understand the real issue behind God's command. It was not a matter of the fruit; it was a matter of treasuring and nurturing relationship with God.
It is also interesting to note that although God restricted them from eating this fruit there were many other things they could do. They can eat everything else and do anything they ever wanted to do. As i reflect on this, i discovered that God does put a boundary on what we can and cannot do. But as we think a bit deeper, within this boundary is so much room to so many more things. God did not make it difficult for the first humans to follow Him. If only they understood God's plans and intentions...there is so much more they could have gained.
Jesus said that His yoke is 'light and easy' (Mt. 11:30). I think we must keep this perspective in view while we live the kind of life that pleases God. Sometimes when the going gets tough and loneliness sets in, we need to learn to look to Jesus. At the end of the day its not a matter of keeping a law...dos or don'ts. Its a matter of developing a relationship with God. And God is faithful! He will see us through no matter what.
Only thing is that often times we don't see this because we give up too fast and don't give sufficient room and time for God to work. Let's learn to be wise in this matter and press on when the going gets tough.
